Why become a patron of Strings Attached?
Re-viving an ancient system so musicians can thrive.
Why we need you more then ever to help us keep making music.
Do you remember buying a single CD or album at a record store and poring through the art and liner notes?
Do you remember when we used to walk into Blockbuster video, pick out a single movie, and hand over some money to watch it for just two days?
Do you remember when you could get a single newspaper from a little box on the street corner by feeding some money in?
Fast forward to 2020…
Some of us still buy CD’s, but most of us subscribe to Spotify or Pandora for a monthly fee. Or we watch YouTube with tons of ads.
For movies, we subscribe to Netflix, or Amazon Prime, or Hulu, or HBO, or all of the above.
We read New York Times teaser articles, but we subscribe in order to read entire articles. Because.. staff needs to get paid to do their jobs.
Patreon.com was invented to be in harmony with this same model of supporting creators. (The monthly subscription model.) The truth is that musicians making a living strictly from live shows is just not sustainable. Especially with the natural decline of CD sales with the progress of technology, which is both exciting and challenging. The cool thing about the Patreon system is there’s no set charge amount. It’s totally up to you, and what makes sense for your budget.
Everyone understands how public radio and public television must ask for support to stay in business and pay their staff. You’re not trading your dollars for a specific product; you’re endorsing the value of the organization, trusting the ethic of the team that designs and delivers the content that you love. And that’s why we’re asking for your support. To pay our staff (Will and Karen) for some of the epic hours of work that it takes to create for you.
We’re all used to being marketed to by commercials on TV, radio, and even on YouTube. At Strings Attached We don’t have the Big Business advertising dollars to support our mission. We just have you. : ) And you have us. For the long haul. We’ve been making music nonstop for our whole lives: exciting and innovative, calming and comforting. And above all, community-building and humanizing. And we’re going to keep on delivering. We hope you’ll come along.
Curious about what we’ve done over the years musically and for the community?
Here are some of the artists we’ve collaborated with, here are some of our community highlights: See here and here and finally some of the shows we’ve presented over the years from St. David’s to Nutty Brown Cafe.
